Project Description

CLIENT – Home Owner

Design Intent – Establish a casually elegant yard that will be used often.

Project Objective – Develop a desert oasis. The yard will be used often for relaxing, family gatherings and entertaining. Integrate the existing Saguaro, Ocotillo and Bird of Paradise plant grouping into the
landscape plan.

Design Process – Preserve the quiet, desert ambiance. Provide ample entertaining and barbequing space. (Barbeque by owner.) Emphasize an oasis character using lush plants. Limit excessive water use. New plants are used to compliment surrounding vegetation and frame views. Jacuzzi-spa off master bedroom remains private.

Results – The existing desert plant grouping is highlighted by its use as a focal design element. The north portion of the yard is set aside for entertaining. A cozy seating area amidst desert accent plants offers a simple place to enjoy the desert haven in an intimate setting. Privacy at the spa is assured by narrowing walkways and strategic plant use. Lush, evergreen plants emphasize an oasis character by contributing various shades of green, flowers, colors and fragrances. Non-spiny, native and naturalized plants minimize water use and enhance existing desert surroundings.

Project Notes – Collaborate with Anasazi Design for pool design and layout. One edge of the pool is a low, rolling curb to resemble a pool’s sandy edge. The Pebble-tech bottom mimics the bed of a desert pool.
